Updated Feb. 23, 2012

Forever pushing the envelope, the Suwanee arts community will offer opera in Town Center Park this spring.

The North Gwinnett Arts Association (NGAA) has announced that the Peach State Opera will perform at the annual Arts In The Park event on Saturday, May 19. It will be the first time the Peach State Opera has performed in Suwanee, according to a news release. Also, circus-themed entertainment will be featured all day in the park.

And, the NGAA has scheduled its spring Plein Air (outdoor painting) event for Saturday-Sunday, March 31-April 1. For this, artists will set up at various locations around Suwanee to record subjects on canvas.

“Plein Air” is a French term that means painting in the open air, working directly from the landscape/cityscape as it appears at that moment. Artists also will be competing for prizes awarded Sunday evening. Work will be on exhibit and for sale. For more information and registration, visit www.suwaneepleinair.com.
