More Traffic Improvements Planned for Suwanee

A key intersection would get a new turn lane. Also, improvements are under way at other intersections.

Another Suwanee intersection is slated for some traffic improvements, thanks to action by the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners.

On Tuesday (June 18), the commissioners voted to apply for $600,000 in state funding that would allow construction of "congestion relief" projects at several key Gwinnett intersections.

One of the projects: extending the left turn lane at northbound Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road at Satellite Boulevard, which is a key commercial intersection. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

Also recently, work crews have begun improvements at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at McGinnis Ferry Road. And crews have begun the process of building a multi-use path from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard along Suwanee Dam Road to Main Street, near Town Center.

The two latter projects involved Gwinnett County funding.

“This is another good example of the state and county working together to get things done,” Chairman Charlotte Nash said of the newest project.
