5. Today in History:Β On this date in 1900, author Margaret Mitchell was born in Athens. She worked as a journalist for the Atlanta Journal for six years but quit because an ankle injury limited her mobility. She then went to work on a book about life in the South during an after the Civil War. Gone With The Wind was published in 1936 and sold 1 million copies in its first six months. It was made into an Oscar-winning movie in 1939. Mitchell died in 1949.
