According to CNN.com, police arrested the suspect in a rear parking lot of the theater, according to Frank Fania, a police spokesman. The suspect was not immediately identified, though Fania said he was believed to be in his early 20s.

"He did not resist. He did not put up a fight," Fania said. Police seized a rifle and a handgun from the suspect, and another gun was found in the theater, he said.

Police say there was an explosive device inside the theater, but they are not sure if that was already in place or whether it was thrown into the crowd.

The Huffington Post reported: According to KMGH Denver, a person went into the theater, set off a smoke grenade and then opened fire. Witnesses told local radio station KOA that a masked gunman launched the attack.
