UPDATE: Rip-Off May Be Behind Gwinnett Homicide

Gwinnett County Police are calling the Lawrenceville incident an apparent homicide.

Updated Oct. 17, 1:49 p.m.

On Tuesday evening (Oct. 16), Gwinnett County Police found the body of a 22 year old black male in the area of Bridge Walk Drive and Oak Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Police were responding to a call of "shots fired." They searched the area and found the body of Rashad Jones of Lawrenceville near the tennis courts.

During their investigation, police talked to several people and potential suspects who said the motive behind the killing may have been a rip-off involving a scam.

GCPD's Cpl. Edwin Ritter says neither the suspects or the victim lived in the neighborhood.
