Ex-CNN Exec Admits Putting Dog Feces in Neighbor's Mailbox

Furnad, former head of CNN Headline News, was fined over the incident, and seems unrepenant.

This was not a common act of neighborly pique.

A former CNN executive has acknowledged that he placed a bag filled with dog feces in his Atlanta-area neighbor's mailbox as an act of revenge, several media outlets have reported.

Bob Furnad was seemingly oblivious to the surveillance camera capturing him and his dog as he looked up his neighbor's driveway, then shoved a plastic baggie into their mailbox, ABC News reported.

Hours later, Benjamin Dameron and Ralph Miller discovered just what he'd left behind. Dameron said that he was "shocked" to discover what was in the bag.

Furnad, president of CNN Headline News until 2001, owned up to the stunt in statements to local police and media outlets, the Huffington Post reported.

"This was an immature act in response to years of malicious rumor mongering that I consider defamation of character," he told the Covington News.

Dameron and Miller have lived in Worthington Manor, a historic home in Covington for more than two decades, ABC News reported. They say they haven't spoken to Furnad in years, and that any feud is news to them.

Furnad was fined $180 for littering.
