Fire Destroys House in Suwanee

Some people will be displaced, Gwinnett Fire authorities said.

A fire Sunday afternoon in Suwanee destroyed a house, and displaced five adults, according to authorities.

According to a Gwinnett Fire news release, firefighters were called to an incident about 5 p.m. in the 3700 block of Crescent Walk Lane. Crews found "heavy smoke and fire conditions" coming from the roof of the two-story, wood frame, single-family house.

Crews initially entered the house to battle the fire, but high winds contributed to quick fire growth. Firefighters were removed to battle the blaze from outside, the release said.

The house where the fire originated was a total loss, with the five adults being displaced. These residents will not need American Red Cross assistance, authorities said.

A house next door had damage from exposure to the blaze, but no residents will be displaced from this house.

The cause of the blaze has not been determined, and remains under investigation.
