NEWS NEARBY: Gwinnett Police Probe Possible Shoe Collection Angle in Teen's Slaying

News from Patch sites in the area.

Gwinnett Police say that a shoe collection is one angle they are considering as a possible motive in the recent slaying of Grayson High student Paul Sampleton Jr.

"We are looking into that angle, among other things," Cpl. Jake Smith said. "I can only say that the investigation is ongoing at this point. We'll always accept tips from the public at  770-513-5300."

WSB-TV first reported that friends of the teen believe the murder could have been over shoes. Sampleton was reported to have an extensive shoe collection and frequented a Facebook site called ATATF - ADDICTED TO ALL THINGS FRESH. The site is a swap and sell high-priced items, including shoes. Information from the initial incident report obtained by several media outlets claim that the body of the teen was found "on the floor of the kitchen just inside of the interior garage door," and that the teen possibly had been tied up or restrained.

Sampleton's body was found by his father Wednesday afternoon in his Grayson home. The students were on early release because December 19 was the last day of school before the winter break.

In the meantime, according to the Facebook page, RIP Paul Sampleton, a candlelight vigil in his honor was scheduled at Wade-Walker Park, at 7:30 p.m. Friday (December 21).
