Suwanee Couple Had 'A Truly Loving Relationship'

Reaction about Steve and Charissa Thomas is flowing after her October shooting death at their home.

Some people who knew Steven and Charissa Thomas say the Suwanee couple had a loving relationship and feel that her recent death in a shooting incident at their home was accidental.

"I got to know Steve and Charissa and had witnessed a truly loving relationship," former Suwanee resident Clay Shy said via email recently.

Shy, who now lives at Lake Lanier, sold the Riverview Run Lane home to the Thomases in August (sale by owner) and said, "I know a lot of what's going on. ... I also am sure this was an accident."

Charissa Thomas was found dead by police at the Chattahoochee Run subdivision residence early on October 10. Officers had responded after a man identified as Steven Thomas told the police dispatcher that he "accidentally shot his wife in the head."

Her body was found at the top of the stairwell. A gun and a cell phone were found near her body.

Steven Thomas was taken into investigative detention and later released. Suwanee Police say the investigation is continuing, and no charges have been filed.

Shy added via email that he got to know the Thomases well during the house sale.

"I was over at the house on Sunday evening before the accident ... They are/were so happy with each other ... After 25 years of marriage!  I had told them numerous times how remarkable it is that 2 people could be so happy after 25 years of marriage. That is what is so sad.
