Suwanee Man Aids in Discovery of Body in Chattahoochee

Body is pulled from water near McGinnis Ferry. Gwinnett Fire aids in search Monday.

Two kayakers, one of whom is from Suwanee, made a gruesome discovery Monday afternoon when they came across a body floating in the Chattahoochee River.

According to an AJC report, the park service got a call and then notified Johns Creek police and fire departments.

Johns Creek fire chief Jeff Hogan said a the body of what appears to be a black male was pulled from the water near McGinnis Ferry. It was not known if foul play was involved.

The two kayakers found the body while working with a river clean-up at the time. According to the AJC's report, Clint Miller of Suwanee and a friend, both part of a river clean-up group, had been paddling their kayaks when they came across the body.

Gwinnett County firefighters also assisted with the search efforts. An autopsy will be conducted by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office.
