Suwanee Police Seeking Parks Volunteers

Training will begin this month.

The Suwanee police are seeking people to be their "eyes and ears" in the city's parks.

Chief Mike Jones announced recently that anyone interested in helping patrol the city's signature parks system can get training this month.

Training began this week for parks volunteers from the department's Citizens Police Academy. Other volunteers would be trained May 31, for two hours.

Volunteers would receive a yellow T-shirt and watch for potential crimes in parks, as well as answer patrons' questions. They would have no enforcement powers, but would relay the information to police.

Anyone interested in being a police parks volunteer should contact Suwanee police at 770-945-8995, or email  Elias Casanas at ecasanas@suwanee.com.
