Hilscher To Join Suwanee Council Tuesday

The Suwanee City Council will get its second new member of 2012 on Tuesday when Beth Hilscher takes the oath of office at the City Council meeting at

Hilscher, an attorney with an office in Old Town, will fill the unexpired term formerly held by Jace Brooks, who resigned in May to run for Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. Hilscher was the only qualifier, and so no election was held.

Of her priorities, she has said, "It will be my priority to consider the concerns and desires raised by citizens throughout the Suwanee 20/20 Vision Planning process. A recurring theme throughout the planning process, and articulated in the final report recently adopted by Council, was the concern citizens have regarding the condition of the I-85 Gateway area.

"I would like to see the City establish specific short term and long term plans regarding the development and enhancement of that area."

Doug Ireland, elected in 2011, is the other council member to take office in 2012.
