Ivy Creek Greenway Completed in Suwanee

The new section of the Ivy Creek Greenway in Suwanee is now open to the public, according to a Gwinnett County news release.

The greenway was one of the primary goals of the Gwinnett County Open Space and Greenways Master Plan completed in 2002. In addition to the 1 1/4 mile built at , there is an additional 2.7 miles of the greenway that runs from the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center in Buford to the Mall of Georgia area.

The next phase of Ivy Creek Greenway construction will begin next year, according to the county, extending the trail from the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center through the woods at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center towards I-985.Β  Eventually the trails will link, for a total length of seven miles.

Construction of the greenway was funded by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (or SPLOST) as well as a grant from the Recreational Trails Program.
