Mitsubishi Electric Rezoning in Suwanee Is OK'd by Gwinnett BOC

Expansion reportedly would bring more six-figure jobs to the area.

Updated Oct. 28, 2011

Mitsubishi Electric will be able to add about 200 jobs in unincorporated Suwanee now that the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners has approved rezoning that will allow expansion.

Industrial Development International developers were the formal applicant for the property in the 1300 block of Satellite Boulevard, near Old Peachtree Road. This apparently would be an expansion of Mitsubishi Electric's current Suwanee facility. The commissioners Tuesday approved rezoning the 33-acre property to industrial use.

According to a report in August in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the new jobs would pay an average of about $125,000 annually, compared with roughly $115,000 the company’s current Gwinnett workforce makes.

Mitsubishi Electric’s HVAC Advanced Products division is at 3400 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, less than five miles from the proposed site.
