Gwinnett BOC Hears Plea for Help in an Unincorporated Area

A former District 3 commissioner cites the recent Snellville slaying as an example of lax protection.

The recent homicide in Snellville prompted a resident and former Gwinnett commissioner to carry his concerns to the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.

Curtis McGill, who served as District 3 commissioner from 1988-92, told the commissioners Tuesday that his area feels like a "lost colony" and needs more police protection and zoning enforcement.

McGill said he lives on Temple Johnson Road, and that the March 30 slaying of Brent Francis happened "behind my house." Also, he said zoning regulators "just ignore" the area.
