Suwanee Council Election Qualifying Opens Monday

Candidates will have to formally declare intent in the July election.

The City of Suwanee will hold an election for a new City Council member in July, and anyone wishing to be elected must qualify next week.

Formal qualifying for the post formerly held by Jace Brooks will be Monday, June 25 and Tuesday, June 26 (8:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m.) and Wednesday, June 27 (8:30 a.m.-noon), city officials said. Fee is $270.

Brooks resigned in May to seek the District 1 post on the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners. All Suwanee council posts are "at-large,' meaning that they are not tied to a specific area of the city. Unincorporated areas of Suwanee are not under city government control.
