Vigil, artifact unveiling planned for Sept. 10.

Updated Aug. 5, 2011

Suwanee city officials plan a candlelight vigil in front of City Hall on Saturday, Sept. 10. at 7 p.m., as part of a commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to the city's Facebook page.

Also, the city will have an unveiling ceremony for its 1,600-pound artifact from the attacks, a piece of steel from the destroyed World Trade Center in New York. The artifact, titled Remembrance, is being kept at the city's public works headquarters; it arrived in Suwanee last month after a lengthy RFP process between Suwanee and Port Authority of New York officials.
