Goodman Elected Suwanee Mayor Pro Tem

Also, three council members are up for re-election in the fall.

The Suwanee City Council put on its 2013 face on Tuesday night (January 22) by electing Dick Goodman as mayor pro tem.

As the "vice mayor" of the city, Goodman will fill in if Mayor Jimmy Burnette is absent or is unable to fulfill the duties of the office.

Goodman has been a council member since 2010, and was elected to a full term in 2011. He is heavily involved with the city's influential Public Arts Commission. Also, Goodman is the chairman of the board of the Gwinnett County public library system.

It's also a reminder that 2013 is an election year in Suwanee. Three council members -- Dan Foster, Kevin McOmber and Beth Hilscher -- come up for re-election in the fall.

Foster has been on the council since 2006 and McOmber since 2007. Hilscher ran unopposed last year to fill the unexpired term of Jace Brooks, who is now the District 1 representative on the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners.
