Who's the Highest Paid Public Official in Gwinnett?

A media report and other figures give some indication of who stands where.

The superintendent of the Suwanee-based Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is the county's highest paid public official, according to a report.

J. Alvin Wilbanks' annual salary is about $414,000, according to a report on 11alive.com.

"Public official" would mean any official who is on a public payroll, such as a city, county or state agency. That would not necessarily mean an elected official, who is in office by virtue of winning an election. For example, Wilbanks works for board members of GCPS, who are elected officials.

According to the City of Suwanee, the city manager (Marty Allen) is at $125,569 annually. Other Suwanee public officials salaries: police chief (Mike Jones), $113,027; planning director (Josh Campbell), $80,246; mayor (Jimmy Burnette), $15,000.

Note: These Suwanee figures supersede any figures posted by 11alive.com.
