North Gwinnett Falls From No. 1 Ranking

Collins Hill advances after victory over Bulldogs.

North Gwinnett is no longer the state's top-ranked team in Class 6A.

The Bulldogs (7-1) are third in the latest ranking by Georgia High School Football Daily and ajc.com. This comes after Suwanee rival Collins Hill's 53-28 victory over North last Friday.

Also, the victory moved the Eagles (7-1) to No. 6 in the poll.

Defending state champ Norcross is at No. 5 after their 24-20 victory over Peachtree Ridge (6-2). Colquitt County is the new No. 1 team.

Currently, Norcross, Collins Hill, North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge are the top four teams in 7-AAAAAA. The top four teams qualify for postseason playoffs, which begin Nov. 15.

That means the Nov. 8 game between Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett at North will figure strongly in playoff seedings.
