Suwanee Teams Go 2-0 in Corky Kell Classic

North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge win 2013 openers Saturday in the Georgia Dome.

North Gwinnett and Peachtree Ridge got Suwanee 2013 high school football off to a winning start Saturday in the Georgia Dome.

In the Corky Kell Classic, the Bulldogs, ranked No. 4 in Class AAAAAA, routed Camden County, 34-14. Peachtree Ridge came from behind at halftime for a 23-17 win over Walton.

For the Bulldogs, quarterback Hayden Sphire passed for 206 yards, and Chris Leggett rushed for 138 yards. Camden was ranked No. 5 statewide.

For the Lions, Jordan Ellis had 103 of his 125 rushing yards in the second half. He also scored the winning touchdown with 3:39 to play in the third quarter.

Next up for North Gwinnett is a game at Grayson on Friday. Peachtree Ridge next faces Parkview in Suwanee on Friday.
