Berlin Wall Artifact To Stay Through Suwanee Day

Suwanee officials recognize the businessman for his purchase.

Looks like people will be able to see the Berlin Wall artifact in front of Suwanee City Hall for awhile.

Ray Stanjevich, the Suwanee restaurant owner who purchased the artifact at auction in May, says he likely will leave the piece where it is through Suwanee Day (September 21).

Its permanent home has not been determined, though Stanjevich hopes to keep the 8,000-pound slab of concrete in Gwinnett. He has had discussions with Gwinnett County officials about a location.

On Tuesday, Suwanee City Council honored Stanjevich and business partner Suzanne Cartwright for purchasing the piece.

City Manager Marty Allen said in appreciation, "I've had the opportunity to watch hundreds if not thousands of people" look at the artifact since it has been in front of City Hall.

Stanjevich owns Friends Suwanee Grill near Town Center, as well as Friends locations in Dacula and Dawsonville.
