Suwanee Has a New Logo; What Do You Think?

Goodbye, gaslamp. Hello, white "S."

The City Of Suwanee now has a new logo, as City Council approved Tuesday the new design that has been in the works for months. The new design, which is the work of Atlanta design firm deshein, was rolled out Tuesday.

Lynne DeWilde, the city's public information officer, told council members that the new look was necessary because the "gaslamp" look no longer represented the city's "corporate" image.

The former logo had been in use since 1998. Since that time, Suwanee has developed its entire parks system, built a new City Hall, and effectively doubled in population.

However, DeWilde noted that having City Hall in the new logo was ruled out. A look at logos of other nearby cities showed that many included images of their City Halls, and so a more unique look was sought.

The new look is splashed with color and images, appropriate for a city that emphasizes public art as an economic strategy.

The new logo is expected to be on display soon on the city website, and in full effect by Suwanee Day (September 21).
